Dear Diary

Students choose to read one of the diary books that are found in the center. They use scrap materials in the Writing Center to build their own diaries. Then they take time each day to write down thoughts in their diaries.  For a challenge students can pretend they are someone from the book and write a diary that contains the character's ideas and actions.  This center can be used to have students respond to events they are learning about in Social Studies.  It is also one that can be revisited because the students don't have to remake their diaries--they just add to them.
