In Their Own Words

I try to integrate reading and writing into every aspect of my students' schoolday. At the beginning of the schoolyear, when we review and discuss expectations and procedures, I always read the book Hattie the Bad (so funny). Our school has five schoolwide expectations to follow and the students work in cooperative groups to write a book that illustrates and describes the five expectation.

I think class books are a wonderful way for students to take ownership and create authentic literature.
