Moving on to Nonfiction

Our Teacher's College manual said that we should be doing a series book club in November. Since we were new to the balanced literacy framework, my 3rd grade literacy team decided to switch and do the Lucy Calkins Navigating Nonfiction unit in November and December because we did not have enough series books yet.  We were also able to make some strong integrated lessons with our Social Studies unit during those months.
